Hazard keen on Liverpool and Arsenal

Belgium starlet Eden Hazard has talked up the prospect of a move to Liverpool or Arsenal in the summer after apparently rejecting a move to Chelsea.

Lille winger Hazard, 19, is rated among the most promising talents in Europe and has for some time been talking up the prospect of a move to Real Madrid or Arsenal.

Zinedine Zidane has recommended the player to Madrid, but Hazard has now said he believes his first-team opportunities would be restricted at the Bernabeu and that he would prefer to continue his development at a club like Arsenal.

"I could have gone [to Chelsea] last June, but I was not ready to make that big leap," he said. "Recently, the press have been writing about interest from Liverpool, and it is nice to hear your name being mentioned everywhere, especially with the best teams in the world.

"If I do leave at the end of the season, I don't want to go somewhere I will be on the bench, and it will be difficult to break through in a team like Real, where Ronaldo and Kaka will be my competitors.

"But there are teams like Arsenal, where youngsters can grow more easily into the first team and make their mark.

"I will not leave for another French club because, with 100 matches under my belt for Lille, I don't think I have to prove my qualities for a team in the same league."

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson saw Hazard in action during a recent scouting trip in France.

£20m+ We do need a winger.

Well, when you consider his age and his price tag (if it is 20million) that may look as a risky move. then again we probably would spend 20million on a winger, simply because we need world class talent out there.

I think at Liverpool it's one of the only clubs he'll be a guaranteed starter.

Eden Hazard has ruled out the prospect of a big-money summer move to the Premier League with the Lille sensation admitting he'd rather play in Spain.

The Belgium winger has long been coveted by Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool and both are thought to be preparing bids to lure him away from France this summer.

But the highly-rated 20-year-old, who already has 17 international caps to his name, has told them to forget about making a move becuase he is move interested in a switch to La Liga.

'I appreciate England a lot, Germany as well, but my characteristics correspond more to Spanish football,' Hazard said, reported in The Sun.

'Furthermore, this country corresponds to my temperament, the heat and the beautiful stadiums.'

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have been tracking Hazard since he shot to prominence in 2007 after his first-team debut for Lille.

The French club are resigned to eventually losing him to a bigger club - but only for the right fee.

Hazard is, however, close to agreeing a new contract with Lille at the weekend. His current deal does not expire until 2014 but the new arrangement will help the club cash in on his inevitable departure according the French newspaper L'Equipe today.

He plays on the right but i'm sure he's just as comfortable on the left.

Hmm, we could certainly do with some width.

It all depends on how we want to play. In a 4-4-2 formation we would need wingers, in a 5-3-2 formation we wouldn't.

Either way, it'd be nice to have the option.

Saw him play twice against us in the Europa League.

Fair enough. I have heard great things about him, but until I see a proper preformance with my own eyes, I'll hold back on the praise.

tbh I wasn't really that impressed when I saw him. A good player but not someone I would pay £20m+ for. Maybe he has improved alot since then...

Eden Hazard has signed a new contract until 2015.

Lille's exciting young Belgian international Eden Hazard signed a new contract with his highflying French club. The 20-year-old put pen to paper tying him to Lille until 2015.

"I'm with Lille 100 per cent," said Hazard. "I'm keen [to remain with Lille] but in football nothing is certain. There are still three months [of this season] to play. I will tackle them with all my heart and we'll have to time to talk afterwards," he said.

Lille manager Rudi Garcia welcomed Hazard's decision, stating: "If Eden has signed an extension it's because he wants to be with us. It's a strong signal."

Hazard, voted the French first division's most promising player in the last two seasons, has scored seven goals in all competitions this campaign as his side chase their first Ligue 1 title since 1954.
