Leighton Baines (Everton)
We havent been officially linked with the fella but i want your views on the man, i think he would be fantastic at picking out Carroll in the box from corners, set-peices and also from the occasional cross.
Im not to sure about his defending but overall i think hes a good LB, better than everyone we have tired there since Riise.

Re: Leighton Baines (Everton)
Defensively sound and brilliant going forwards contributing with a few goals. If you believe reports he's a Liverpool fan although he may have been converted like Carra. Excellent at set-peices aswell. With Everton's financial predicament surely they'd sell him for the right price.

Everton's financial predicament
I think that would be the only reason why Everton would possibly sell Baines to us. I would imgaine they would make us pay "over the odds" for him, maybe 12-15million?

Re: Leighton Baines (Everton)
I would not mind him here at all, dangerous with crosses and set pieces, not sure what his shooting his like but doubt that will matter. Everton may not have any choice but sell if they want to raise funds for new players.

Liverpool to make a surprise £10m move for Everton defender Leighton Baines - report
20 Mar 2011
Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing Leighton Baines from their cross-town rivals Everton, and are prepared to offer the Toffees £10 million for the England full-back.
The Reds are thought to be on the look out for a left-back after the departure of Paul Konchesky, and failed, according to some media reports, in a move to re-sign their former player Stephen Warnock from Aston Villa in January.
Now The News of the World reports that the club's director of football strategy, Damien Comolli, has identified the former Wigan Athletic man as a target.
Liverpool have played Glen Johnson, a right-back, on the left side on a few occasions this season.

Goodison star linked with Anfield switch
24th Apr 2011
Liverpool will try to solve their problem at left-back with the signing of Everton's Leighton Baines.
The Reds have been unable to find anyone to lay a permanent claim to the role in recent years which appears to have been cursed.
Emiliano Insua seemed to have made the position is own but a loss of form saw him farmed out on loan to Galatasaray. Paul Kionchesky spent an ill-fated few months there in the first half of this season but was clearly out of his depth, forcing Glen Johnson to fill in, out of position. Fabio Aurelio - unarguably the natural option - has been unable to string a run of games together due to a raft of injuries.
This pantomime has led Liverpool to look across town enviously to the closest rivals. Baines has enjoyed his best season in an Everton shirt, winning rave reviews from all sections of the football world. So impressive have his displays been that he has been considered very unfortunate to have not been named in the PFA Team of the Year with Ashley Cole earning the nomination instead.
Indeed were it not for the excellence of the Chelsea man, Baines would almost certainly be England's first choice left-back.
Now Liverpool want to see him play that role in a red shirt and hope that the Toffees' financial concerns could see them reluctantly sell despite the rivalry that exists across Stamley Park. Baines could make the switch for £13m.

We need a new left back definately, Robinson needs time to mature and learn the game. Just because hes played well in 2 games doesnt mean anything.

Baines just scored a penalty against Wigan.
*I can already picture Gerrard and Baines having arguments over who takes the pens on a regular basis!

Bitters will out price him, read it somewhere on the papers today. Don't think they will sell him to us though.

Re: Leighton Baines (Everton)
David Moyes insists Leighton Baines won’t join Liverpool
Everton manager David Moyes has brushed off the prospect of Leighton Baines joining Liverpool this summer, insisting that he has the final say on the club’s transfers.
The 26-year-old left-back has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park in recent weeks but the Everton boss has dismissed the possibility of the England international crossing the Merseyside divide.
Baines, who has made 152 appearances since signing from Wigan Athletic for £6m in 2007, penned a new five-year deal with Everton last summer.
“I can’t see it,” said Moyes. “It’s not for me that one and I think Liverpool know that as well. Nobody will leave the club unless I give it the go-ahead and that won’t change.
“We have signed Leighton on a five-year deal. I don’t want to sell him and Everton don’t sell cheap. The chairman looks after the players and gives them what he can. So Leighton’s not for sale – and they know that as well.”
Nicky Barmby and Abel Xavier are the only two players to have joined Everton from Liverpool with both clubs in the Premier League.

3 - Leighton Baines has provided more assists than any other defender in each of the last three PL seasons. Creative.
He would be worth the money.
